MD Design Ltd has worked on several projects I have been commissioned to design, document and contract administer. To date MD Design Ltd has been involved with full documentation drawing including design development, involvement with structural consultants and decision making in regard to project specific materials and design aspects.

MD Design Ltd’s construction knowledge is extremely good and is fully up to date with current legislation changes and subsequent detail requirements to achieve building compliance. Document production work is excellent and timely with presentation clear and concise. Drawings are well set out for clarity and progress through the construction process.

MD Design Ltd’s ability in the field of design development, documentation and the built environment generally is exceptionally good and after 28 years in the business and Architect practice both in New Zealand and Australia I have not worked with a designer of his all round competency.

We have known Mark Butler professionally for over 20 years, and in this time we have been involved in a number of projects. Residential through to Commercial buildings all have been completed to the satisfaction of the clients and this Company.

The engagement of Mark Butler on this latest project, our own residence has again been undertaken with the professional approach and competency to which we have become accustom.

The Design Brief and Design:

After the initial interview and site evaluation it became apparent of a number of constraints in the design process. These issues were worked through and a design concept was developed to which we were very happy with. The design and conceptual evaluation, communication and understanding of the project from the outset is exactly what was expected.

Planning issues also required some input, with the site being located in a Sensitive Environment by the Council. Resource Consent documentation was also produced my Mark Butler, all with a successful result.

A use of materials for this project has been one of interest with a number of discussions taking place, the knowledge and understanding of the products has also been helpful.

The ability to design, development of the initial design, the planning processes, develop suitable and sustainable design all has been undertaken on this and many projects successfully by Mark.

Drawings, Documentation and Construction:

A sound understanding of the building practice, construction technology and ability to produce clear accurate drawings which facilitate the construction process. Documentation, Drawings, Specifications, Regulations and Codes, Are all assets Mark regularly demonstrates.

Contract Administration for this project was not required, being my own house. Mark in the past has demonstrated sound knowledge of Contract Administration and the ability to undertake site meetings and inspection of work as required.

As indicated earlier I have known Mark Butler professionally for over 20 years, I have no hesitation in referring Mark to other clients as has occurred many times in the past. All Architectural Services are carried out in a professional matter with sound knowledge of the construction industry.

As land surveyours we have been involved with Mark Butler of MD Design Ltd for over twelve years. In this time a large amount of work has been covered varying from simple building addtions requiring certification right through to full site development and land transfer subdivisinons.

These projects have taken place under various authority controls, particulalarly Waitakere, Auckland, North Shore and Manukau City locations. At all stages MD Design Ltd has demonstrated a very good knowledge of Urban planning legislation and Development Controls that are, in a lot of cases unique to each territorial authority.

MD Design Ltd produces concept plans and architectural drawings that are clear and unambiguous, his insistence on working from topographic site plans prepared initially by a surveyor, ensure that hid designs fit within the building envelopes dictated by each individual site and therefore form our point of view require no amendments.
